I’m Katerin, and I’m thrilled to have you here. This space is more than just a website—it’s a shared journey, a place where we can connect, learn, and grow together. It’s about exploring the incredible potential of hemp  and other sustainable solutions to create a better future for people and the planet. Our Story Begins Over 20 Years Ago Over two decades ago, I first discovered the remarkable potential of hemp. What I found was nothing short of amazing—a plant that could revolutionize industries, from construction to textiles, food, and beyond. But back then, the time wasn’t right for me to fully dive into this passion. Still, the idea stayed with me, quietly growing, until the moment was ripe to take action. Fast forward to today, and here we are. Together with my partner Peter, a seasoned construction engineer, we’ve embarked on a journey to explore and develop innovative, sustainable building solutions using hemp. Why Hemp? Why Now? Hemp is a miracle plant —it grows quickly, absorbs CO₂, and requires minimal water and pesticides. It can be used to create everything from carbon-negative building materials to biodegradable plastics and nutritious food. Yet, despite its potential, hemp has been underutilized, especially in the construction industry. When Peter and I began our deep dive into sustainable building techniques, we were surprised to see how little had changed in the 20 years since I first explored hemp’s potential. We saw incredible innovations, but we also noticed a troubling trend: even when hemp was used, it was often paired with environmentally harmful materials like concrete and steel. This realization sparked a fire in us. We began to ask: Why not use hemp more widely? Why not create a system that makes it easier and more accessible to build with hemp? Our Vision: A New Way to Build With Peter’s expertise in construction and my background in social work, journalism, and community engagement, we set out to develop a new approach to building with hemp. Our goal is to simplify the process and create materials that make hemp a viable option for load-bearing structures. But this isn’t just about us. It’s about you, too.
